Penobscot River Overnights - Two Days of Class V Action and a Night of Remote Camping Beside The Penobscot River

You'll get a leisurely start at our Penobscot Outpost where you will have a hearty breakfast, pack your gear, and head for the river. Your trip will begin at McKay Station in Ripogenous Gorge, where you will challenge the upper Penobscot, paddling hard to successfully navigate Exterminator, The Staircase, Crib Works and Big A. This two day adventure gives you and your guides ample time to surf all the best holes, and to stop and enjoy all the sites. Snacks and drinks are always provided to make sure you are comfortable and have the energy to take on the rapids.

After this day of excitement, you will settle into your campsite at Salmon point, where you will be enjoying one of the most pristine and beautiful places the northeast has to offer. Mt. Katahdin will be in full view as you relax by the fire as your guides prepare an authentic outdoor barbecue to fill you up and tantalize the taste buds of any paddler.

After a restful night's sleep by the rivers edge, you will awake to camp coffee and another hearty breakfast, pack up camp, and head on down the river for some more class V action. You will enjoy another riverside lunch and return to the Penobscot Outpost. This is not just any trip, it is experience that you will never forget!

We provide:
Tents, Sleeping Pads, All food & snacks, drinks & full meals, river gear, shuttle to and from all destinations, dry bags for your personal gear.

You need to bring:
Sleeping bag, warm clothing, sturdy footwear and your unique sense of adventure and fun!!

The $199 includes all of your meals for the weekend too. They have showers/bathrooms as well as cabins if you can’t deal with a tent. This year should be extra intense with all the rain we’ve gotten.


You get there on a Fri night have a fire/drinks. Get up at 6:00 on Sat, raft ½ the river in the a.m. then they feed you a buffet midway down river, raft all afternoon. Come back to site around 4, shower and then they show you a slideshow and movie of your trip to a steak dinner. Then it’s usually a big party night with all the river people you meet at a huge bonfire.

Weekends are limited, as they only allow a certain amount of rafts go down the river per day, so the 1st weekend of August is already booked solid. But the weekend of Aug 21-23 is open.

- This is a General Estimate -
Price is $174 which is based on 8 people and a tent campsite up to 10 people… If no one has tents we can rent them (I have a few tents we can use). We could even rent a cabin for the extreme pompous guys (Dennis). All prices are per person so adding or subtracting people won’t increase or decrease the price.

This package also includes Breakfast, Lunch, and a Dinner (all you can eat ) on Saturday.

Day 1:
We’d all drive up Friday night to get to our campsite [fire, beers & shenanigans].

Day 2:
Wake up at 6:00 a.m. to eat breakfast and learn about the river. Raft the lower half of the river until 11:00 when we stop to have a BBQ half way down the river with Steak and Chicken… Mmmmmmmm, Chicken. Then we jump on a bus to the top of the river and raft the first half 2 class V rapids... Once we return, everyone showers (together I hope) and gets ready and then we all head back to mess hall to watch the DVD of our trip and Slideshow. Then we have a big dinner and there is a huge bonfire at the resort next to ours all night or we can have our own fire at our gay-friendly campsite.

Day 3:
Get up Sunday morning and drive home.
